How to install apps on your Windows Phone?
Before you can download and install apps on your Lumia or any other Windows Phone device, you need to ensure that your Microsoft account is set up and active. This is essential for accessing the app store and downloading content.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps of installing an app using Facebook Messenger as an example. Feel free to explore the Store to discover more apps you may want to install.

Open the Store app from your home screen. In the search bar at the top, type the name of the app you want to download, in this case, “Facebook Messenger.” After typing the app’s name, press Enter on your keyboard or tap the search icon.
Once the search results appear, browse through the options and locate Facebook Messenger (or the app you want to install). Tap on the app to open its details page, where you can read a description, view screenshots, and check the ratings.
On the app details page, tap the Install button. This will begin the process of downloading the app to your device. If this is your first time installing an app, the system may prompt you to sign in to your Microsoft account.
A permissions prompt will appear, requesting access to certain features of your phone (e.g., contacts, location, camera, etc.). Read through the list of permissions carefully, and if you’re okay with the app accessing these features, tap Allow to proceed. This step is crucial for the app to function properly.
The app will now download and install automatically. You will see a progress bar indicating the download status. Depending on the size of the app and your internet speed, this could take a few moments. Be patient and ensure you have a stable internet connection.
Once the installation is finished, a button labeled View will appear on the screen. Tap this to open the app directly from the Store.
Now that the app is installed, you can always access it from your App List. To find it, swipe left from the home screen to access the main menu, where all your apps are listed alphabetically. Locate Facebook Messenger (or the app you installed) and tap to open it.
